FIRE DEPARTMENT KEY BOXES (A) Unless exempted by written order of the Decatur Fire Department, and in order to eliminate forced entries into structures and to avoid costiv and time-consumin�efforts in a� ining access to locked structures durin�times of emergency, the followin� structures shall be equi��ed with a ke�lock box svstem at or near the main entrance or at anv other such location which may be required by the Fire Chief or any other representative of the Fire Department: (1) All newlv constructed commercial and industrial structures and places of assembly protected bv an automatic fire alarm system or automatic suppression system or an� structure secured in a manner that restricts access during an emergenc�, �2) All newly constructed multi-family residential structures that have restricted access throu�h locked doors and have a common corridor for access to the livin�quarters; �3) All newly constructed health care facilities; and �4) All existin� structures undertakin� additions, alterations or repairs which shall cause the same to conform with the then current provisions of any of the building or propertv maintenance codes adopted by the City_ (B) All structures subject hereto shall be required to install a key lock box svstem prior to the issuance of an.�ccupanc�permit which shall then be functional at all times thereafter. (C) The Fire Chief shall desi�nate the type of key lock box svstem to be implemented and shall have the authoritv to require all structures to use the desi na� ted s, s� (D) The owner or operator of anv structure subject hereto shall, at all times, keep a ke� the lock box that will permit access to the structure. (E) The owner or operator of anv structure subject hereto shall notifv the Fire Department of an��es to the key lock box s s�
