Pre-bid Meeting Minutes <br /> for <br /> LAKE HOUSE PARKING AND PIER IMPROVEMENTS <br /> CITY PROJECTS 2018-36 <br /> Public Works Conference Room <br /> 1:30 p.m., VVednesday, Januaryl6, 2019 <br /> I. Introduction <br /> Introductions by Matt Newell, Public Works Director. This is a mandatory pre-bid meeting. <br /> Only those bidders who are listed on the attendance sheet will be allowed to bid on the project. <br /> II. Project Review <br /> The Project consists of removing and replacing, ��ith concrete, the pavement on the pier <br /> south of the Lake House at I101 S. Lake Front Road, in addition to re paving the parking <br /> lot to the north with asphalt. The concrete on the pier will be partially stamped with <br /> stamps available at the City s Municipal Ser-vices Center. The fence around the pier will <br /> be replaced with a similar fence to what is there now that is vinyl coated. In the par•king <br /> lot and around the Lake House, there x�ill be some asphalt milling close to the lake, and <br /> some asphalt patches in locations shown on the plans. There will also be pipe drains <br /> installed, bollards,perrking blocks, and pavement striping. <br /> III. Minority Participation Goals Review of City Code Chapter 28, Article 10(Handout and <br /> Discussion by Newell). <br /> A. Policy <br /> The City�•equires that general contractof•s show good,faith efforts to meet the City's goals of <br /> 10%of the project amount be used to hire MBE subcontractors when subcontracting <br /> opportunities exist, and 18%total hours are to be worked by minority employees. Note that <br /> there are lwo goals that need to be addressed. <br /> B. Definitions <br /> The Prospective bidders are directed to the handout that provides an excerpt of the State's <br /> definition of a minority. According to 301LCS 575/2, a minority person is:American Indian or <br /> Alaska Native;Asian; Black or African American;Hispanic or Latino;Native Hawaiian or <br /> Other Pacific Islander. <br /> C. Project Goals and Good Faith Efforts <br />
