STAFF REPORT <br /> Decatur City Pian Commission <br /> Hearing Date June 6, 2019 <br /> Case No. 19-24 <br /> Property Locatian 230-399 Block of East Marietta Street and the East/West Alley Right- <br /> of-Way located between the 1000 Blocks of Narth Warren Street and <br /> North Water Street. <br /> Reqnest Street Right-of-Way vacation of the 230-3�9 Block of East Marietta <br /> Street and Alley Right-of-Way located between the 1004 Blocks of <br /> North Warren Street and North Water Street. <br /> Petitioner Crossing Healthcare <br /> Representative Chastain&Associates LLC <br /> BACKGR(?UND <br /> The petitioner is requesting vacation of a sixty (60) foot street right-af-way in the 230-399 Block <br /> af East Marietta Street and a sixteen (16} foat atleyway running east-west located between the <br /> 1000 Blocks of North Warren Street and North Water Street. The vacatian would enable the <br /> petitioner to control the improved alley and utilize the area as part of the praperty. <br /> A separate zaning amendment is currently being praposed to increase the area of the Comrnunity <br /> Care Campus and extend the boundaries to the north and west including the proposed right-of-way <br /> vacation areas. The Decatur Macon County Opportunities Corparation (DMCOC) has been <br /> serving the Decatur community for aver SO years. They focus on providing services that pravide <br /> stability to Decatur and Macan County. They have services for seniors,the community, and youth <br /> (including Head Start programs). The Head Start program is haused in a building twa (2� blocks <br /> north of the existing Cornmunity Care Carnpus. <br /> The services that Babytalk and DMCOC offer will supplernent the work being done with opioid <br /> treatment in the Cornmunity Care Campus. Patients with children can get services for their child, <br /> including childcare, at Babytalk and DMCOG Once patients have been treated and are working <br /> through transitional housing, DMCQC has services to assist them in find'zng a job. Including <br /> Babytalk and DMCOC in this campus shaws that the campus is truly facused on the overail success <br /> of their patients,nat just one facet af their lives. <br /> Tl�e proposed zoning amendment will include a new multi-use building that will house Babytalk <br /> and DMCOC.
