Getz Jr.,Chief of Police <br /> James Edwards,IT Director <br /> SUBJECT: The purpose of this memorandum is to request the expenditure of funds to PRESIDIO and CDW-G for primary <br /> and secondary data storage. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends that the bid from PRESIDIO totaling$88,545.88 and the bid from CDW-G totaling$9,420.52,for a combined <br /> total cost of$97,966.40 be approved. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Police Department is implementing the use of Body Worn Cameras(BWCs)officers in 2020. <br /> The deployment of BWCs will increase the data storage needed to handle the number of videos produced,and to meet the state <br /> statute for video retention. It is estimated that 20OTB of useable electronic storage space will fulfill the storage needs for 5 <br /> years. This request is for 20OTB of useable space at the primary storage layer plus 20OTB of usable space at the secondary <br /> storage layer. This level of redundancy is expected to provide 100%data protection. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: There has been no prior Council action related to this request. The Council previously <br /> approved the purchase of BWCs under Council Resolution 2019-194 last December. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: No objections are anticipated. The use of BWCs has broad popular support. The Decatur <br /> police union has opposed the deployment of BWCs for over a year,but they recently withdrew their opposition. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: James E.
