1019/2020 Item Coversheet <br /> Public Works <br /> DATE: 10/8/2020 <br /> MEMO: 2020-146 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Matt Newell,P.E.,Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Establishing Handicapped Parking Space along West Forest Avenue in Front of 629 West Forest Avenue <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing the installation of a <br /> handicapped parking space along West Forest Avenue in front of 629 West Forest Avenue <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> City staff received a request for a handicap parking space in front of the requestor's home. A letter,written by the requestor,is <br /> included detailing their need for the space. Their house has no driveway,only a short alley used for parking by his neighbor. <br /> Parking in front of his house is the best option for him. <br /> SCHEDULE: Installation is normally completed within 14 days of Council authorization. <br /> BUDGET AND STAFFING IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: Budgetary impacts are approximately$200 for the installation of the requested signs and pavement markings. <br /> Staffing Impact: Approximately 4 hours of staff time to make and install the signs. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: No objections anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Matt Newell,Public Works Director and Griffin Enyart,Assistant City Engineer.
