decatur
OPERATION OF TRANSIT MANAGEMENT SERVICES public
•
C
transit
system
Executive Summary
MV's Approach and Project Understanding
Today the Decatur Public Transit System (DPTS) operates 15
• routes, a downtown trolley, and Operation Uplift, an ADA
• paratransit service. For residents and visitors relying upon
public transportation in Macon County, DPTS provides riders
with a reliable option for trips to and from work, school,
doctor's appointments, and community events. Operating °..y • , '
throughout the City of Decatur, DPTS's primary service is
fixed-route local bus service and complementary ADA
service. Additionally, replica trolleys support the downtown
movement.
Our History with the City of Decatur
As a partner to the City, MV brings local and regional experience with these important
services, and our work is a testament to our investment in the City. Providing
management over the contract for five years and a year ago partnering with the City to
realize a turnkey operation, MV was pleased to play a significant role in the development
of the new operating model with a shared goal of gaining a more efficient and
streamlined service for the City.
During an unprecedented year of change, MV and the City saw a three-week transition
into the turnkey service. The transition included the deployment of an incredible new
fleet supplied by the City, the global pandemic that served to strengthen our partnership
as we continue to ensure the safety of our passengers and employees together, and
gaining a better understanding of labor needs as we work to come to labor harmony and
a new collective bargaining agreement.
The accomplishments of the local MV
team, led by John Ramonez, general
manager, and the progress made over
the past year, demonstrates we are
committed to assisting the City in the
next term. Looking to the future, MV is
committed to an ongoing partnership
with the City, and as we look forward,
MV is prepared to work to meet the
City's needs as public transportation
changes.
MV TRANSPORTATION , INC. - RFP TRANSIT #2020-01 6
