b) Instructional media (e.g. slides, video, etc.) as may be successfully integrated into <br /> the instructional process. <br /> c) Three (3) full hours of classroom ADA operational training. This training shall include <br /> a discussion of various disabilities that present transportation issues, scenarios regarding <br /> service to passengers with disabilities, and the practical remediation of access problems <br /> presented in those scenarios,and equipment and other resources available to make public <br /> transit a viable transportation alternative to passengers with disabilities.Included within <br /> this training shall be a discussion of- <br /> a. <br /> £a. Operator responsibilities. <br /> b. Equipment and devices currently in use. <br /> c. Proper use and securement of such equipment and devices. <br /> d. Other matters as the CONTRACTOR deems appropriate. Field time on the bus <br /> with instructors to evaluate operator expertise in boarding, securement, and de- <br /> boarding of mobility-aid devices and the operator's familiarity with other <br /> equipment and devices then in use. Several types of mobility-aid devices shall be <br /> used to conduct the hands-on training. <br /> d) For use in hands-on training and hands-on evaluation, the CONTRACTOR shall <br /> provide a manual wheelchair. <br /> Annual Refresher Training: ADA sensitivity training each year. This training shall include: <br /> a) A review of ADA complaints filed by passengers with disabilities during the preceding <br /> year by category. <br /> b) A review of passengers with disabilities requiring special service needs. <br /> c) ADA operational training, including a discussion of scenarios regarding service to <br /> passengers with disabilities and the practical remediation of access problems presented in <br /> those scenarios, and equipment and other resources available to make public transit a <br /> viable transportation alternative for passengers with disabilities. <br /> d) Updates on changes to ADA law and related mandates as appropriate. <br /> e) Included within this training shall be a discussion of: <br /> a. Operator responsibilities. <br /> b. Boarding and securement equipment and devices currently in use. <br /> c. Proper use of such equipment and devices. <br /> d. Other matters as the CONTRACTOR deems appropriate. <br /> f) A minimum of one (1) hands-on check to evaluate operator expertise in boarding, <br /> securement, and de-boarding of mobility-aid devices and the operators' familiarity with <br /> other equipment and devices then in use.
