Legal Department
DATE:
MEMO:
TO: Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe&Members of the City Council
FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager
SUBJECT:
Ordinance Authorizing Acceptance of Certain Properties of Macon County Trustee for Public Purpose
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the ordinance be adopted.
BACKGROUND:
In addition to the information in Mr. Patrick's memo,it is important to point out that these sixty-seven lots are not the total
number of unclaimed and unbid lots from this year's tax foreclosure sale in the city of Decatur. Rather, they are ones that are
concentrated in the City Council's target area, are ones with large city liens, and are located areas where the city is attempting to
attach the newly added MCT lots to ones already owned by the city. In short, the city picked these lots.
Additionally, the city has met with the county staff to develop and implement a procedure for uniformly handling the annual
cluster of additional properties that remain unclaimed after each tax foreclosure sale. This procedure will be memorialized in the
form of a MOU this year, and codified with an intergovernmental agreement to cover subsequent years.
ATTACHMENTS:
Description Type
Community Development Memorandum 21-02 Cover Memo
Ordinance Authorizing Acceptance of Certain Properties Ordinance
of Macon County Trustee for Public Purpose
