Police Department <br /> DATE: 7/27/2021 <br /> MEMO: 21-24 <br /> TO: Mayor Julie Moore-Wolfe <br /> City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Shane Brandel,Interim Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the execution of an intergovernmental agreement between the County of Macon and the <br /> City of Decatur for distribution of 2021 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant(JAG)Program Funds. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Recommend Approval. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Police Department applied for up to$34,099 in JAG Grant Funding for the enforcement of <br /> laws associated with Guns and Violent Crime. One of the conditions of the Gram is the grant be shared with the Macon County <br /> Sheriffs Office. The Decatur Police Department will receive 75%of the Grant and the Sheriffs Department will receive 25%. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: No Previous Action on the 2021 Grant,but has approved the JAG Grant in years past. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None Anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Interim Chief of Police Shane Brandel. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Anticipate reimbursement for overtime for officers assigned to address guns and <br /> violent crime through September 30,2024 or until funds are used,whichever is first. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> Description Type <br /> Staff Report Executive Summary <br /> Cover Letter Cover Memo <br /> Resolution Letter Resolution Letter <br /> Interagency Agreement Backup Material <br />
