Police Department <br /> DATE: 7/22/2021 <br /> MEMO: 21-23 <br /> TO: Mayor Julie Moore-Wolfe <br /> City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager <br /> Shane Brandel,Interim Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the execution of an intergovernmental agreement between Macon County and the City of <br /> Decatur for distribution of JAG Grant Funds. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends this item to be approved. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Police Department applied for and was awarded$29,430 in JAG Grant funding for the <br /> enforcement of laws associated with Guns and Violent Crimes to be used by September 30,2023. Since being awarded these <br /> funds,we were notified that the funds are to be shared with the Macon County Sheriffs Department. The Decatur Police <br /> Department is to receive 75%percent of the grant with the remaining 25 %going to the Sheriffs Department. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: On November 2,2020,the City Council approved the grant agreement to accept JAG Funds <br /> in the amount of$29,430.00(Resolution No. 2020-159). <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None Anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Shane Brandel,Interim Chief of Police <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Anticipate reimbursement for overtime for officers assigned to address guns and <br /> violent crime through September 30,2023 or until funds are used,whichever comes first. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> Description Type <br /> Staff Report Executive Summary <br /> Cover Letter Cover Memo <br /> Resolution Letter Resolution Letter <br /> Interagency Agreement Backup Material <br />
