Police Department <br /> DATE: 08/02/2021 <br /> MEMO: 21-23 <br /> TO: Mayor Julie Moore-Wolfe <br /> City Council Members <br /> FROM: Shane Brandel.,Interim Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the execution of an intergovernmental agreement between the county <br /> of Macon the City of Decatur for Distribution of 2020 Byrne Justice assistance Grant(JAG)Program Funds <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that this item be approved. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Police Department applied for and The City of Decatur was <br /> awarded up to$29,430 in JAG Grant funding for the enforcement of laws associated with Guns <br /> and Violent Crime to be used by September 30, 2023. Since being awarded these funds,we were <br /> notified the funds had to be shared with the Macon County Sheriff's office. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: On November 2, 2020,the City Council approved the grant <br /> agreement to accept JAG funds in the amount of$29,430.00 (Resolution No. R2020-159) <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: none anticipated <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Shane Brandel, Interim Chief of Police <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: Anticipate reimbursement for overtime for officers <br /> assigned to address Guns and Violent Crime through September 30, 2023 or until funds are used, <br /> whichever comes first. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: Resolution Letter, Grant Agreement,Intergovernmental Agreement, <br /> Staff Report <br />
