The City of Decatur seeks to expand our services by adding a microtransit fleet that will allow us to <br /> provide on demand,microtransit services to our residents after transit regular hours of operations end <br /> and/or or to off-route locations.During 2020 the only taxi service in Decatur closed down their operations <br /> and there are limited options for our residents.We wish to fill this gap in services by adding a <br /> microtransit fleet.The replacement of revenue vehicles with new hybrid revenue vehicles will keep <br /> operating costs lower,with less repairs to older vehicles.The replacement of the revenue vehicles will <br /> also allow us to expand our services by adding a limited route run on Sundays.The patrons of our buses <br /> are low-income riders who have requested bus services on Sundays in lieu of utilizing servicces such as <br /> Uber which can cost them upwards of$10 for a one-way ride.By expanding our services with the rolling <br /> stock and microbuses we will be providing social equity for our residents.In order to provide public <br /> transportation to the citizens of Decatur and the surrounding communities we must regularly repair and <br /> upgrade facilities and vehicles to maintain the overall functioning and longevity of the services provided. <br /> These proposed improvements and purchases allow for more safety,as Benches and planters will prevent <br /> pedestrians from entering the bus bay.The planned repairs to the facilities will increase energy efficiency, <br /> and improve the overall appearance of the transit facilities.The addition of the bustcarport for the new <br /> microtransit fleet will protect the new vehicles as well as provide shelter for our paratransit fleet.This <br /> much needed busport will increase the longevity of our microfleet and keep them in good repair while <br /> protecting them from the elements.This bus/carport will also include the electrical infrastructure needed <br /> for hybrid and electric vehicles.The purchase of additional bus shelters will add lighting as a security <br /> feature,and include space for advertisements for a revenue source Greater public access to wifi services <br /> will provide internet access for passengers who previously would be unable to use phone/tablettlaptop <br /> services.Repairs to the ramps and parking lot surrounding the facilities will reduce the risk of accidents, <br /> as well as provide the appropriate ADA access for wheel-chairs.Repairs to our bus stop sidewalks with <br /> ADA upgrades will improve accessibility and access to our buses for our residents.Updates to the <br /> dispatch office will allow for a more streamlined approach to scheduling rides,as this will allow a merge <br /> between the dispatch and paratransit office space.Adding an announcement system will provide <br /> information to all types of differently abled passengers.Purchasing generators is necessary in the event of <br /> an emergency,and will allow transit to be better prepared in the event of power outages.Generators will <br /> allow transit to continue to operate despite power outages allowing us to conitnue to provide our <br /> necessary services.Resurfacing and epoxying the floor in the maintenance garage increases safety and <br /> overall appearance and lifespan of the garage. <br /> 2 <br />
