RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING <br /> AMERICAN RESCUE PLAN FUNDS <br /> TO CHILDREN'S MUSEUM OF ILLINOIS <br /> WHEREAS, the Children's Museum of Illinois is a major tourism destination located in <br /> Decatur, Illinois that annually receives visitors from 11 states; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Children's Museum of Illinois was closed due to COVID-19 for more <br /> than 12 months in 2020 and 2021; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Children's Museum of Illinois suffered losses as a direct result of <br /> COVID-19 in an amount exceeding $100,000 and these losses have been documented to the City <br /> of Decatur; and, <br /> WHEREAS,the City of Decatur has determined that extended closure,loss of funding and <br /> other economic impacts on the Children's Museum of Illinois threaten the long-term viability of <br /> this important public facility; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Decatur has determined that the circumstances of the Children's <br /> Museum of Illinois make it eligible to receive American Rescue Plan(ARP)funding in an amount <br /> sufficient to partially offset the one-time financial impacts of COVID-19 on the organization; and, <br /> WHEREAS, the Children's Museum of Illinois has submitted a plan to the City <br /> documenting its plan for long-term financial sustainability. <br /> NOW,THEREFORE,be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Decatur as follows: <br /> SECTION ONE. That the City agrees to provide the sum of Two Hundred Thousand <br /> Dollars($200,000)from its portion of the American Rescue Plan Funds to the Children's Museum <br /> of Illinois upon execution of an Agreement between the City of Decatur and Children's Museum <br /> of Illinois. <br /> SECTION TWO. That the City Manager is authorized to enter into an Agreement with <br /> the Children's Museum of Illinois in accordance with the requirements of the American Rescue <br /> Plan. <br /> PRESENTED, PASSED, APPROVED AND RECORDED this 7th day of September, <br /> 2021. <br /> ATTEST: IE MOORE W LFE, M <br /> pbR L <br /> CITY CLERK <br />
