CITY OF DECATUR <br /> SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> FOR <br /> CULVERT PIPE, FITTINGS, AND FABRICATIONS <br /> QUALIFICATIONS OF BIDDERS: <br /> The City may make such investigations as it deems necessary to determine the ability <br /> of the bidder to provide the specified material and the bidder shall furnish to the City all <br /> such information and data for this purpose as the City may request. The City reserves <br /> the right to reject any bid if the evidence submitted by, or investigation of, such bidder <br /> fails to satisfy the City that such bidder is properly qualified to carry out the obligations <br /> of the contract. Conditional bids will not be accepted. <br /> MATERIALS FOR CORRUGATED STEEL (CS) PIPE. FITTINGS AND <br /> FABRICATIONS: <br /> Corrugated Steel Pipe, fittings and fabrications shall meet the requirements of Section <br /> 542, "PIPE CULVERTS" and of Article 1006.01, "Corrugated Steel Pipe and Corrugated <br /> Steel Pipe Arch" of the "Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction", <br /> current addition by the Illinois Department of Transportation. The minimum thickness <br /> for Corrugated Steel Pipe (CS) shall be as follows: <br /> 0.064 inches for 12 inch and 18 inch CS. <br /> 0.079 inches for 24 inch and 36 inch CS. <br /> 0.109 inches for 48 inch CS. <br /> MATERIALS FOR CORRUGATED POLYETHYLENE(PE) PIPE, FITTINGS AND <br /> FABRICATIONS: <br /> Corrugated Polyethylene (PE) Pipe with a smooth interior, fittings, and fabrications shall <br /> meet the requirements of Section 542, "PIPE CULVERTS" and of Article 1040.04, <br /> "Corrugated Polyethylene (PE) Pipe with a Smooth Interior" of the "Standard <br /> Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction", current addition by the Illinois <br /> Department of Transportation. <br /> Coupling systems shall be a factory installed polyethylene double bell coupler pressure <br /> testable to 5.0 psi with up to 5 degrees of axial misalignment. <br /> End treatment and fittings used with the pipe shall be of the same material as the pipe <br /> unless approved otherwise by the Engineer. <br />
