SPECIAL PROVISIONS ' <br /> SP-14 WATER SERVICE CONNECTIONS (CONTINUED) <br /> The contractor shall coordinate the replacement of the service with the property owner for a <br /> minimal disruption of service in either a full or partial service line replacement. If the corporation <br /> stop, as determined by the Engineer, is not in a reusable condition, it shall be replaced. <br /> Copper Water Service, Bored: For each location, the Contractor must verify the location and ' <br /> condition of the service by digging between the back of curb and sidewalk. If the water service is <br /> already made of copper, it will not need to be replaced. All services to be replaced, shall be <br /> directionally bored from the tap to the existing curb stop. When the copper service line is open cut it <br /> shall be bedded and covered with 4" of sand to protect the line from being damaged by backfill. <br /> The curb stop and box will need to be removed and replaced. Cost shall include all materials to , <br /> connect to the existing corporation stop and existing water meter, including: excavation, backfill, <br /> disposal of surplus materials, ground restoration not covered for payment by Special Provision 14. <br /> In a few cases, the corporation stop may have to be replaced, as determined by the Engineer. <br /> Disconnect Water Service: If needed, the water service will need to be dug up at the water main ' <br /> and disconnected and capped at the corporation stop. <br /> Basis of Payment: All labor and materials necessary to install the water service line, and to <br /> fulfill the requirements in the Specifications for Private Water Service, will be paid for at the <br /> contract unit price per FOOT for COPPER WATER SERVICE, BORED in the size specified. The <br /> removal and replacement of the curb stop and box will be paid for at the contract unit price per ' <br /> EACH for CURB STOP AND BOX REMOVE AND REPLACE. If needed, the replacement of the <br /> corporation stop will be paid for at the contract unit price per EACH for CORPORATION STOP ' <br /> REPLACE. If needed, the disconnecting of the water service will be paid for at the contract unit <br /> price per EACH for DISCONNECT WATER SERVICE. Exploratory digging will be paid as part <br /> of the associated pay items involved in replacing the water service. If it's found the water service <br /> will not be replaced, the exploratory digging will be paid for at the contract unit price per EACH for <br /> EXPLORATORY EXCAVATION. <br /> SP 15 SOIL CEMENT DESIGN <br /> The roadway design is recommended to include a minimum of 8% cement to be processed into the , <br /> base. The base should be compacted to a minimum of 95% of the maximum Standard Proctor dry <br /> density of 114.6 lbs. per cubic foot at optimum moisture content of 12.8% as determined by ASTM <br /> D-698 laboratory compaction test. <br /> Basis of Payment: Cost of the work will not be paid for separately but shall be <br /> considered as included with the various work items involved in the cement base course. <br /> 9 <br />
