SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> The following Special Provisions supplement the "Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge <br /> Construction", Adopted January 1, 2022, the latest edition of the "Manual on Uniform Traffic <br /> Control Devices for Streets and Highways", and the "Manual of Test Procedures of Materials" in <br /> effect on the date of invitation of bids, and the Supplemental Specifications and Recurring Special <br /> Provisions indicated on the Check Sheet included here in which apply to and govern the <br /> construction of the 2022 Street Restoration Project, and in case of conflict with any part, or parts, of <br /> said Specifications, the said Special Provisions shall take precedence and shall govern. <br /> SP-1 DESCRIPTION OF WORK <br /> The proposed improvement, designated as Section 22-00208-00-FP, City Project 2022-08, <br /> consists of milling and overlaying various City streets at the depths specified, and reconstructing <br /> Roosevelt Avenue with a soil cement stabilized base course. There are also HMA patching, utility <br /> adjustments and replacements, and thermoplastic pavement markings on various streets. <br /> SP-2 HOT MIX ASPHALT MIXTURE REQUIREMENTS <br /> Mixture Use Class D Surface, Level Surface HMA Binder <br /> Patches Binder(See Course <br /> Typical) & <br /> Incidental <br /> AC /PG PG 64-22* PG 64-22 PG 64-22* PG 64-22* <br /> Design Air Voids 4.0% @ 4.0% @ 4.0% @ 4.0% @ <br /> ' Ndes = 50 Ndes= 50 Ndes= 50 Ndes= 50 <br /> Mix Com (Gradation) IL 19.0 IL 9.5 IL 9.5 IL-19.0 <br /> Friction Aggregate N.A. Mix C Mix C N.A. <br /> * If 20% or more RAP is used, PG 58-22 binder will be required. <br /> ' SP-3 TRUCK LOADING TO REDUCE MIX SEGREGATION <br /> Description: The mix is to be dumped into the haul truck in mass. Prior to loading, enough <br /> mix is to be in the bin or silo to load the truck. The truck is to be loaded in a maximum of three <br /> dumps. The initial load is to be in the rear 1/3 of the truck, the second dump in the front 1/3 of the <br /> truck and the final dump in the middle. <br /> Basis of Payment: Cost of the work will not be paid for separately but shall be considered <br /> as included with the various work items involved. <br /> SP-4 BITUMINOUS MATERIALS (TACK COAT) <br /> Description: This work will consist of utilizing bituminous materials in accordance with <br /> Section 406.02 of the Standard Specifications and as modified herein. The bituminous material <br /> allowed as tack on brick, concrete, bituminous or aggregate bases shall be CSS-lh or RC-70. <br /> Basis of Payment: All labor and materials necessary to comply with this specification will <br /> be paid for at the contract unit price per POUND for BITUMINOUS MATERIALS (TACK <br /> COAT). <br /> 4 <br />
