INTERGOVERNMENTAL COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT FOR <br /> A MULTI JURISDICTIONAL STREET CRIMES TASK FORCE <br /> PURSUANT TO 5 ILCS 220/1,ET SEQ. <br /> This Agreement is made this 1'7>)- day of 01 �- 4,-- 2022,between the County <br /> of Macon, Illinois ("County"), and the City of Decatur, Illinois ("City"),both being units of <br /> local government as defined in the Illinois Constitution of 1970, (collectively,"the Parties") <br /> duly authorized by law and the provisions of the Intergovernmental Cooperation Act, 5 ILCS 220/1, <br /> et seq.,in consideration of the undertakings in this contract of each party to the other, enter into the <br /> following agreement: <br /> RECITALS <br /> Whereas,the Parties desire to work cooperatively with one another in the enforcement of <br /> the laws of the State of Illinois and the United States of America;and <br /> Whereas,the Parties have determined that their respective law enforcement capabilities and <br /> resources available to confront and counter illegal drug activities and the other criminal offenses in <br /> Macon County,Illinois,would be significantly enhanced by the interagency cooperation provided <br /> for in this Agreement. <br /> Now,therefore,by reason of the advantages accruing to the Parties to this Agreement and <br /> the residents of the City of Decatur and of Macon County,Illinois, the Parties hereby enter into this <br /> Agreement. <br /> PURPOSE <br /> The purpose of this Agreement is to create a multi-jurisdictional authority to be known as <br /> the Decatur-Macon County Street Crimes Task Force (hereinafter"Street Crimes Task Force"). <br /> The Street Crimes Task Force will direct its primary enforcement efforts in the following areas: <br /> 1. Covert and overt investigations concerning individuals engaged in illicit criminal activities in <br /> the Street Crimes Task Force area with specific emphasis on drug related activities; <br /> a. The Street Crimes Task Force area is defined as all areas within the geographical <br /> Emits of Macon County,Illinois. It is understood that some investigations will <br /> transcend the County of Macon and involve additional law enforcement agencies. <br /> 2. Development of prosecutions and forfeiture proceedings against individuals and property <br /> involved in drug related activities; <br /> 3. Dissemination of intelligence to the appropriate federal, state,and local law enforcement <br /> agencies; <br /> 4. Cooperation with existing federal, state,and local task forces which promote and develop <br /> investigations and prosecutions of cases against criminal activities. <br />
