PARTNERS <br /> The Parties understand and agree that the Macon County Sheriff and Macon County State's <br /> Attorney are independent elected officials with internal control over their employees and as such,are <br /> not subject to control by the County. To that end,the Sheriff and State's Attorney are necessary <br /> partners to this Agreement,although neither official is a"public agency"as defined by the <br /> Intergovernmental Cooperation Act. <br /> COSTS <br /> The Parties understand that personnel appointed to the Street Crimes Task Force remain <br /> employees of their respective components of government. The Parties will supply necessary <br /> equipment items and will compensate their employees for personnel services rendered in.support of <br /> the Street Crimes Task Force operations. <br /> DUTIES <br /> 1. Duties of the Macon County Sheriff's Office <br /> a. The Sheriff of Macon County will give full deputy powers to Decatur police officers <br /> designated by the Chief of the Decatur Police Department (hereafter"Deputized <br /> Officers' for the purpose of conducting illegal drug and street crime investigations <br /> outside the boundaries of the City of Decatur,but within the boundaries of Macon <br /> County. <br /> b. When Deputized Officers are operating as part of the Street Crimes Task Force <br /> outside the boundaries of the City of Decatur,but within the boundaries of Macon <br /> County,the Sheriff of Macon County,or his designee,will possess full supervisory <br /> authority over the Deputized Officers. <br /> c. A designated deputy sheriff(hereafter"Designee')will be assigned to the Sheriff's <br /> Office's Investigations Division. The primary duty of the Designee will be <br /> investigative acts related to the street crimes investigations. The Designee will work <br /> in conjunction with the Decatur Police Street Crimes Unit in street crimes related <br /> investigations and other criminal investigations within the City of Decatur. <br /> d. The Designee,while assigned to the Decatur Police Street Crimes Unit and while <br /> operating with the City of Decatur,will be required to abide by all Decatur Police <br /> Department polices that govern pursuits. <br /> e. The Sheriff of Macon County shall provide other facilities and support as may be <br /> deemed appropriate for a given investigation. <br /> 2 <br />
