Manager. The employee shall request any vacation carry over at least 30 days prior to his/her <br /> anniversary date. In order to secure vacation through seniority rights, employees shall make their <br /> vacation requests known between January 1 st and April I st of each calendar year .An employee <br /> may request a particular vacation period during this time even if such has not yet accrued provided <br /> that such will accrue prior to the time selected. All vacation requests received after April I st shall <br /> be granted in accordance with this agreement on a first come-first serve basis. <br /> Section 5. If the Chief of Police orders a total mobilization of the Police Department, <br /> any affected officer whose scheduled vacation has been canceled because of said order, shall be <br /> reimbursed for any actual vacation expenses incurred over fifty dollars ($50.00)which cannot be <br /> recovered by the officer, upon providing sufficient proof to the Police Chief. <br /> ARTICLE 11 <br /> HOLIDAYS <br /> Section 1. Employees shall accrue 8 hours of holiday time on the following days each <br /> year: <br /> New Year's Day Independence Day <br /> Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday Labor Day <br /> Lincoln's Birthday Columbus Day <br /> Washington's Birthday Veteran's Day <br /> Good Friday Thanksgiving Day <br /> Police Memorial Day (May 1) Christmas Day <br /> Memorial Day <br /> Section 2. When an authorized holiday occurs on Saturday, the previous Friday shall <br /> be observed as the holiday and when an authorized holiday occurs on Sunday, the following <br /> Monday shall be observed as the holiday. <br /> Section 3. If a holiday occurs during a classified employee's vacation period, the <br /> employee shall retain the holiday. <br /> Section 4. Effective December 2018, officers will be permitted to cash out up to 208 <br /> accrued unused holiday hours per fiscal year,at their discretion. Cash out will be available during <br /> the first business week of June and the first business week of December only. Officers electing to <br /> cash out accrued unused holidays will be paid at their rate of pay as of the date of their election. <br /> Payment shall be made separately from the Officer's regular wages, shall be deposited into the <br /> Officer's deferred compensation account or paid directly to the Officer,at the Officer's discretion, <br /> and shall be made not later than the next complete pay period following election. <br /> Section 5. Such time off shall be taken at the convenience of the employee and the <br /> Department. In addition, a classified employee required to work on the following holidays shall <br /> be paid one and one half(1 ''/2)times the regular rate of pay for said holidays: <br /> 19 <br />
