At that time, new desktop computers were purchased
for those officers/detectives/supervisors with their own desks and a need for their own computers. Other officers use mobile
computers in the squad cars or a virtual desktop in the report room
As with any technology, the computers purchased in 2014 have become outdated for the technology being used by the Decatur
Police Department. Many of them arent able to handle large data extractions or don't have the processor speeds to view video
files. The Department has worked with the IT department to identify 70 desktop computers in need of replacement. The type of
desktop needed depends on the nature of the assignment. The replacement of all of the desktop computers has a total cost of
$82,896.
PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: None
POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None
STAFF REFERENCE: Shane Brandel,217424-2745,sbrandel@decaturil.gov
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: This proposed purchase/expense was detailed in the 2023 Police Department budget.
ATTACHMENTS:
Description Type
Staff Report Executive Summary
Resolution Letter ResOlUtion Letter
Quote 1 Backup Material
Quote 2 Backup Material
