Legal Department
DATE: 8/17/2023
MEMO:
TO: Mayor Julie Moore Wolfe&Decatur City Council Members
FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager
Wendy Morthland,Corporation Counsel
SUBJECT: Resolution Authorizing the Amendment to Resolution No. 2008-02 Adopting Procedures for Electronic Attendance
at Meetings
SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the proposed revision be approved.
BACKGROUND: Currently, the State of Illinois only allows members of local government elected governing bodies to
participate in remote meetings due to personal illness or disability of the governing body member, due to employment obligations
and city business,or a family emergency. The State has recently changed their rules and now allows participation in remote
meetings for a fourth reason:unexpected childcare obligations.Although this provision may not pertain to current members of the
City Council, the city has sought to keep its rules for meeting participation fully conformed to state regulations.
ATTACHMENTS:
Description Type
Resolution Authorizing the Amendment to Resolution
No. 2008-02 Adopting Procedure for Electronic Resolution Letter
Attendance at Meetings
