DATE: 03/05/2024 <br /> MEMO: 24-03 <br /> TO: Lisa Gregory, Mayor Pro Tem <br /> City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton, City Manager <br /> Shane Brandel, Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Ammunition Purchase <br /> PURPOSE: The purpose of this memorandum is to request the expenditure of funds to Ray O'Herron <br /> Company,Inc.,TJ Conevera, Sunset Law Enforcement and Kiesler Police Supply,Inc. for the purchase <br /> of ammunition for the Decatur Police Department pursuant to the attached bid summary. <br /> BACKGROUND: The Decatur Police Department purchases firearm ammunition on an annual basis <br /> for routine handgun range training and qualification, patrol rifle range training and qualification, <br /> Emergency Response Team firearm training,recruit firearm training and qualification,and for standard <br /> on-duty ammunition. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: It would be the recommendation of staff to authorize the execution of <br /> purchase orders as shown in Exhibit A which reflect the lowest bid for each type of ammunition. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: Council Resolution Letter <br /> Exhibit A-- Staff Recommendation <br /> Ammunition Bid sheet <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: Prior Council action has approved similar requests in prior years. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None anticipated. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The purchase of ammunition is an annual budgeted expense. <br /> The actual delivery of ammunition can take several months, depending on current supplies by the <br /> manufacturers and vendors, as well as national demand. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Shane Brandel, Chief of Police,424-2745,sbrandelAdecaturil.g_ov;and <br /> Brad Allen,Deputy Chief,424-2740,ballenadecaturil. og_v. <br />
