Police Department <br /> DATE: 3/5/2024 <br /> MEMO: 24-03 <br /> TO: Lisa Gregory,Mayor Pro Tem <br /> City Council Members <br /> FROM: Scot Wrighton,City Manager <br /> Shane BrandeL Chief of Police <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bids and Authorizing the Execution of Purchase Orders for Furnishing Ammunition to <br /> the Decatur Police Department <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> The purpose of this memorandum is to request the expenditure of funds to Ray O'Herron Company, hic., TJ Conevera, Sunset <br /> Law Enforcement and Kiesler Police Supply,hic. for the purchase of ammunition for the Decatur Police Department pursuant to <br /> the attached bid summary. <br /> It is the recommendation of staff to authorize the execution of purchase orders as shown in Exhibit A,which reflect the lowest bid <br /> for each type of ammunition. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> The Decatur Police Department purchases firearm ammunition on an annual basis for routine handgun range training and <br /> qualification,patrol rifle range training and qualification, Emergency Response Team firearm training,recruit firearm training and <br /> qualification,and for standard on-duty ammunition. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: Prior Council action has approved similar requests in prior years. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None anticipated. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: N/A <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Shane Brandel, Chief of Police,424-2745,sbrandel@decaturil.gov and Brad Allen,Deputy Chief, <br /> 424-2740,ballen@decaturil.gov <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> The purchase of ammunition is an annual budgeted expense.
