Ellis was the first Black Medical Doctor in Decatur in the 1920s. He <br /> provided medical care for the African American residents for over 30 years: It was <br /> said that several low poverty White Americans also went to Dr. Ellis for medical <br /> care. Dr. Ellis was given credit to delivering over 146 new babies during his <br /> tenor.Dr. John C. Ellis gave medical treatment to those who couldn't afford it during <br /> the Great Depression of 1929- 1941. <br /> April 2022 <br />
