 Guidepost
Specific Recommendations
Mali
IMP
The following specific recommendations will focus primarily on
high-ranking roadways that are a part of the high injury network.
There are several sites that ranked lower on the priority list that still
will require attention, and one example will be provided in this section.
It is not the intent of this plan to dictate the future design of any
roadway, but to identify opportunities to initiate safety project planning
and implantation at several key sites around the City of Decatur. The
focus of this section is on physical improvement opportunities, each
of these identified sites will benefit from education campaigns and
other initiatives listed in the sections above. This section will provide
several recommendations for the identified sites;all, some,or none of
the recommendations may need to be implemented. The guidelines
stated in previous sections should be adhered to before jumping to
the following recommendations. Solutions that do not involve physical
roadway changes or impediments should always be considered and
implemented before jumping to a large-scale physical reconfiguration.
The identification of these strategies is intended to be a starting
point for traffic and roadway safety. Further coordination with the
community,stakeholder engagement, and engineering analysis
would be incorporated into the development of any project
before it is implemented. Furthermore, the safety opportunities
identified in this plan are not meant to supersede or conflict with
existing plans, where they exist.
Kapur Page 48 of 81
au in
