MANAGEMENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT MIS DIVISION Memorandum March 10,2015 MEMO TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council FROM: Gregg Zientara, Interim City Manager Jerry Bauer, Management Services Director Eric Martin, Systems Administrator SUBJECT: Annual Maintenance Renewal for CISCO SmartNET SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that City Council approve the attached resolution, authorizing the City Manager to execute a renewal agreement with Netech Corporation for CISCO SmartNET annual maintenance. BACKGROUND: The City has standardized on CISCO network hardware and software to provide intra-building Local Area network (LAN) connectivity between the end-user desktop PCs and servers in City offices at the Civic Center; the external Wide Area Network (WAN) connectivity between City locations; and the firewall for the City's Intranet connections and protection. This agreement is for maintenance of the hardware for the system for the contract year beginning March 21, 2015. Changes in the agreement this year include coverage for the new VoIP phone system for the Police facility on South Side Drive, increasing the cost over last year by about 25%. Renewal of this agreement entitles the City to receive hardware replacement for failed equipment, around-the-clock technical support service from engineers, and ongoing operating system software updates. The quote received for this agreement is attached. This is a routine annual expense. Staff recommends acceptance of the proposal from Netech Corporation, the current provider, for$22,309.82. POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: None anticipated. INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None. STAFF REFERENCE: Eric F. Martin, Systems Administrator, MIS Division 450-2243. BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: The $22,309.82 will be paid from the MIS operating budget, and is provided for in the approved FY 2015-2016 budget. Attachments(2) 1
