Marley, P.E., Public Works Director SUBJECT: Agreement with the State of Illinois for Improvements to Fairview Avenue (IL Rt. 48) from Marietta Street to South Side Drive City Project 2011-22 SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolution authorizing the Mayor to sign and the City Clerk to attest to the appropriation of additional Motor Fuel Tax funds in the amount of$5,808.49 to pay the City's remaining share of construction and engineering costs related to improvements to various City streets completed as part of the Illinois Department of Transportation's Fairview Avenue(IL Rt. 48) resurfacing project completed in 2012. This is added to the previously approved amount of$23,000 for a total authorized amount of$28,808.49. PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: November 21, 2011 —City Council approved Resolution R2011-178 authorizing an Agreement with the State of Illinois for the improvement of approximately 1.97 miles on Fairview Avenue (IL Rt. 48), City Project 2011-22, Section No. 11-00122-00-FP, from Marietta Street to South Side Drive in Decatur. The Agreement authorizes the expenditure of$23,000 with a provision for the City to provide any additional funds necessary to cover the actual paving costs completed on City owned streets. November 21, 2011 —City Council approved Resolution R2011-179 authorizing an appropriation of$23,000 in Motor Fuel Tax funds for the purpose of paving work for the east and west approaches on West Main Street and the east approach of West Sunset Avenue where they intersect with Fairview Avenue. November 21, 2011 —City Council approved Resolution 82011-180 authorizing the Mayor to approve the plans and specifications for the improvements to Fairview Avenue (IL Rt. 48) from Marietta Street to South Side Drive relative to the City's financial and maintenance obligations. City staff reviewed the plans and specifications and determined that they meet the requirements of the City. Page I 1
