McCrady, City Manager <br /> Re: Agreement with Decatur Park District for Public Improvements Near the Beach House <br /> The attached document is an agreement between the City and the Decatur Park District for <br /> improvements to and near the Beach House. The Park District and its tenant Todd Mason are <br /> planning to make improvements to the exterior of the structure and its decking. They have <br /> requested that the City assist with funding for the project. The City funding can only be used for <br /> the sidewalk/promenade improvements, resolving ADA issues, and for making improvements to <br /> public areas on the lower level. Renovation of the structure is important for continued <br /> redevelopment of our lakefront, specifically in the Nelson Park area. Also, lakefront <br /> redevelopment is specifically listed in our goals document. <br /> The total project cost is slightly more than $760,000. The City would be funding a total of <br /> $250,000 by making annual payments of $100,000 in each of the first two years, and a $50,000 <br /> payment in the third year. The funding would come from the Water Fund where money is <br /> annually budget for lakefront improvements. The work would begin as soon as possible <br /> depending on weather conditions. <br /> My staff and I recommend approval.
