Letting Results <br /> The project scope and specifications were prepared by the Public Works Engineering Division. The <br /> project was advertised on July 9, 2014, and bids were opened on July 23, 2014. The results of the <br /> letting are as follows (bid tabulation attached): <br /> Bidder Bid Price Compared to Engineer's Est. <br /> Over(-Under) <br /> Dunn Company $151,290.90 10.75% <br /> Phaltless Ind., d/b/a Terra Firma Stabilization $168,813.33 23.57% <br /> Engineer's Estimate $136,611.50 ----- <br /> Two contractors took out bid packages and submitted a bid proposal for the Star Route Road <br /> Improvement Project. Dunn Company provided the lowest responsible bid at 10.75% above the <br /> engineer's estimate. Dunn Company has successfully completed many jobs of this type for the <br /> City. After reviewing the bid prices, it is recommended that no significant change will be obtained <br /> by rebidding the project. The bid prices appear to be appropriate for the required work. <br /> SCHEDULE: <br /> Work on this project shall begin after a"Notice to Proceed"has been issued from the City. The <br /> Star Route Road Improvement project is to be complete before October 3, 2014. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: Funding for this project is allocated in the Water Construction Bond Fund 89 and <br /> funds dedicated for maintaining infrastructure impacted by dredging operations in the City's farm <br /> management account with Hickory Point Bank. It is proposed that a total project expenditure of <br /> $151,290.90 be authorized. <br /> Staff Impact: City staff time has been allocated for this project. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Oakley Township Road Commissioner <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director, Keith Alexander, Director of <br /> Water Management and Matt Newell, City Engineer.
