simplifies the integration process for developers by receiving in disparate GPS pr tocols and translating
them into a unified protocol out to the third party application.Additionally, it provides for intelligent
routing of messages to the devices, and thus lowers traffic over the network.
8.1.2.2 ASTRO Presence Notifier Application
The ASTRO Presence Notifier Application or the Presence functionality within UNS provides the
presence and absence information of subscriber radios to any compatible data applications located in the
Customer Enterprise Network(CEN).
It interfaces with data applications and subscriber radios using User Datagram Protocol/Internet
Protocol(UDP/IP).This allows the dispatcher to know whether or not a subscriber unit is powered on or
off or located somewhere within the radio network.
The Presence Notifier service is NOT available for HPD modems or ASTRO Spectra Plus mobile radios.
8.1,2.3 Location Application Programming Interface (API)
The ASTRO 25 Location Application Programming Interface(API)contains all tht necessary interface
documentation that a third party application developer needs to receive location, tel metry, and presence
data from the Motorola Universal Processing Server(MUDS)or the Unified Netwo k Services Server
(UNS).
The API pushes data messages containing location, telemetry, and presence inform tion in near real time
to the third-party application and allows support for remote commands through a s of messages that
can be sent to the mobile units.
8.1.3 CompassCom AVL Solution
CompassCom Software develops and integrates Automatic Vehicle Location(AVI,) solutions to enable
customers to use location-based data for fleets and mobile assets.
