ADS will also record all defective system components—such as valves, hydrants and curb stops—as well
as any map errors that are noted in the course of carrying out the field activities. We will be able to
conduct the vast majority of the survey during normal working hours. In areas with a high traffic volume,
ADS will perform this work during off-hours and will provide the City with the necessary notice.
Emergency Call-Outs
If Required, ADS will make a technician available to perform any necessary emergency leak location
work to accommodate the Cit with Emergency -
City e gency Leak Call Outs. ADS has included our fee's for this
service in the price table below.
Equipment
ADS will use the Fluid Conservation Systems(FCS)5-30 and/or the ADS/Primayer Mikron Leak Surveyor
for sounding the leaks and the Echologics LT Leak or ADS/Primayer Digital for pinpointing the leaks.
Echologics and Primayer are leaders in the manufacture and service of leak detection equipment. Our
leak technicians use this equipment for leak surveys and emergency leak calls on a daily basis and
continue to have good success with it. In those areas of the leak survey with very high traffic volume,we
may use a second leak detection device to supplement the work of the Echologics LT Leak correlator.
The ADS/Primayer Enigma—used by our leakage technicians on many of our most recent leakage
surveys in the Chicagoland region—combines sound logging and correlation. Up to six correlating"pods"
are deployed in an area on hydrants or valves. The pods can be programmed to sound and correlate
with each other at a particular time of day(for example, during nighttime hours when traffic and other
noises are minimized). The information from the pods is then downloaded to a laptop computer and
analyzed to determine if and where there are leaks in the target area.
Classification of Leaks
ADS classifies leaks according to the following classes, which will be shown on each individual leak sheet
and in the final report.
Class Definition
I Leaks that are hazardous in terms of potential underground washouts, possibly resulting in surface
collapse, encroachment and/or damage to nearby utilities, commercial and private properties or
leaks that indicate leakage to be severe enough to warrant immediate repair by City work forces
II Leaks that display water losses significant enough to be placed on a regular repair schedule
III Relatively small leaks that should be repaired as work time permits
p AL
1880 W.Fullerton Ave. Chicago, IL 60614 Page 5
Client Initials
