Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Intergovernmental Agreement between the City of Decatur and Macon County <br /> for Guardrail Improvements on Lost Bridge Road <br /> City Project 2014-04 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council adopt the attached Resolutions authorizing the Mayor to <br /> sign and the City Clerk to attest to the following items related to the Intergovernmental Agreement <br /> between the City of Decatur and Macon County to replace a section of guardrail along Lost Bridge <br /> Road adjacent to Lake Decatur: <br /> 1. Resolution revising the City's appropriation of Motor Fuel Tax(MFT) funds dedicated to <br /> general maintenance to include $20,000 for guard rail repairs. This revision increases the <br /> original appropriation from$419,500 to $439,500 to pay the City's general maintenance costs <br /> related to traffic signal maintenance, concrete street repairs, and guardrail repairs. <br /> 2. Resolution authorizing an Intergovernmental Agreement with Macon County to reimburse costs <br /> relating to the repair of a damaged and failed section of guardrail along Lost Bridge Road <br /> adjacent to Lake Decatur. The Agreement is for a reimbursement of costs not to exceed <br /> $20,000. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> January 21, 2014—Council approved Resolution R2014-02 appropriating $419,500 in Motor Fuel <br /> Tax funds for general traffic signal maintenance and to provide concrete for street maintenance for <br /> Fiscal Year 2014. The allocation of MFT funds to cover some of the City's general maintenance <br /> costs is approved yearly by the City Council. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Lost Bridge Road Guardrail <br /> On December 29, 2013, a traffic accident on Lost Bridge Road destroyed a section of guardrail east <br /> of the bridge over Lake Decatur(see attached location map). The City received $7,000 in <br /> compensation from the insurance provider for the vehicle that caused the damage. Before moving <br /> Page I 1 <br />
