Excerpts from the
Traffic & Parking Commission Meeting
October 23, 2014
Item#1 Request for a stop sign at the intersection of Hickory Street/ Charles Street
facing Charles Street
Griffin Enyart reported that City staff received a request that stop signs be installed at the
intersection of Hickory Street and Charles Street. A traffic study was done by comparing
accident records with traffic counts which yielded a high accident rate that should be correctable
by installing stop signs. Two accidents at this intersection were the result of drivers not knowing
who to yield to. This intersection is the last remaining four-way intersection in that neighborhood
that doesn't have any stop signs or other traffic control. Staff recommends approval.
Matt Newell motioned to approve stop signs be installed facing Charles Street; seconded by Jim
Chervinko, and on call of the roll, Commission Members Anderson, Winter, Ninnemann,
Newell, Chervinko and Stewart voted aye. The Chairman declared the motion carried.
