PUBLIC WORKS MEMORANDUM <br /> NO. 2014 - 24 <br /> DATE: June 30,2014 <br /> TO: Honorable Mayor McElroy and City Council Members <br /> FROM: Ryan P. McCrady, City Manager <br /> Richard G. Marley, Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Ordinance Amending City Code Chapter 34 Traffic and Pa king. <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends approval of the am ndments to the City of <br /> Decatur Municipal Code, Chapter 34, as proposed. <br /> BACKGROUND: The proposed amendment to Decatur City Code, Chapter 3 , Traffic and <br /> Parking, makes the following described changes as shown in Exhibit A, attach d: <br /> 1. A review of Chapter 34 identified minor typos that have been corrected and lists have been <br /> updated and re-alphabetized for clarity. <br /> 2. Section 7, entitled "Temporary Regulations"was edited to grant the Pu lic Works Director <br /> authority to make temporary changes in traffic and parking regulations in construction and <br /> maintenance work zones. <br /> 3. Section 73, entitled"Settlement of Fines"was edited to include fines fr in several sections of <br /> the previously approved code that were inadvertently omitted from the ttlement of fines <br /> table. <br /> 4. The proposed amendment to Chapter 34, Traffic and Parking, adds the rdinance language to <br /> Section 75, for the parking citation appeal procedure. <br /> 5. Language was edited to clarify the intent of sections 9, 14, 16, 28H, 30, 1, 33, 35E, 46, 53, <br /> 55, 57, 63, 64, 65, and66. <br /> BUDGET AND STAFFING IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: No significant budget impacts have been identified. <br /> Staffing Impact: Adding language to the City Code clarifying the appeal proc ss should assist in <br /> enforcement of the regulations set forth by Chapter 34. No other staffing impa s are identified. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: None <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br />
