Five contractors took out bid packages for the Street Restoration Project. Dunn Company and <br /> Illinois Valley Paving were the only two that provided bids. Dunn Company provided the lowest <br /> responsible bid at 2.23%below the engineer's estimate. Dunn Company has successfully <br /> completed many jobs of this type for the City. Following approval of the Mayor and City Council, <br /> the bid tabulation will be forwarded to the Illinois Department of Transportation for final approval <br /> in accordance with the rules governing the disbursement of Motor Fuel Tax funds. <br /> SCHEDULE: <br /> Following approval of the contract by the City Council the contracts will be forwarded to the <br /> Illinois Department of Transportation(IDOT) in Effingham for approval. Work on this project <br /> shall begin after a"Notice to Proceed"has been issued from the City. The Street Restoration <br /> project is scheduled to be complete within 70 working days after the"Notice to Proceed"has been <br /> issued, which is estimated to be the end of November. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact <br /> Funding for this project is allocated in the Motor Fuel Tax Fund. It is proposed that a total project <br /> expenditure of$1,730,000 be authorized representing the low bid amount of$1,681,101.58 plus <br /> $48,898.42 for project contingencies. The City's current Motor Fuel Tax allocation for this <br /> project is set at $1,710,000 and is proposed to be increased by$20,000 to $1,730,000. <br /> Staff Impact <br /> Staff time has been allocated for this project in the Capital Improvement Plan. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution and bid award. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Illinois Department of Transportation <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard Marley, Public Works Director and Matt Newell, City Engineer. <br /> Richard Marley will be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the <br /> Council on this item. <br /> This memorandum was prepared by Griffin Enyart, Civil Engineer 1. <br /> Attach: 5 <br /> cc: Tyrolt, Inc., d/b/a Dunn Company <br /> Page 13 <br />
