Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> Keith D.Alexander, Director of Water Management <br /> SUBJECT: Resolution Accepting the Bid and Authorizing the Execution of a Contract for <br /> Lake Decatur Dam Repairs Project- Phase II, City Project 2012-25 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended by staff that the City Council approve the attached resolution accepting the bid and <br /> awarding the contract for the Lake Decatur Dam Repairs Project—Phase 11, City Project 2012-25,to <br /> Engineering & Construction Innovations, Inc., as the lowest responsible bidder in the amount of <br /> $4,159,573.00, and that the Mayor be authorized to execute the contract, and the City Clerk to attest. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> See Appendix A for Prior Council Action <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Summary of the Major Construction History of Lake Decatur Dam <br /> Appendix B provides a brief summary of past improvements to the Lake Decatur Dam. <br /> Phase I of the Lake Decatur Dam Repairs <br /> Phase I of the Lake Decatur Dam Repairs project began in June 2010 and was completed in 2011. The <br /> project included the following work: <br /> 1. Concrete repairs to the upstream face of the dam <br /> 2. Rehabilitation of the mechanical systems that raise and lower the sluice gates on the north side <br /> of the dam. <br /> 3. Replacing the seal systems for the bascule gates and sluice gates. <br /> 4. Removal of gate heaters along the bascule gates. <br /> 5. Installation of a concrete test patch on the downstream spillway of the dam to help determine a <br /> repair approach for Phase 11 work. <br /> 6. Replacement of all eight cylinders operating the bascule gates of the dam. <br /> Phase II of the Lake Decatur Dam Repairs <br /> Phase II of the Lake Decatur Dam Repair project includes the following work: <br /> 1. Complete partial depth concrete repairs to the downstream face of the dam This is a major <br /> work item that will be a continuation of a test patch that was completed with the Phase I work <br /> in 2010-2011.
