- 19 - <br /> schedules vacation time of three (3) consecutive working days <br /> or more, and subsequently determines that he/she does not <br /> wish to exercise the scheduled vacation time, the employee <br /> must give six (6) weeks notice that the employee does not <br /> desire to exercise the selected vacation time. If an <br /> employee fails to provide such notice, he/she will be <br /> required to use the scheduled vacation time. <br /> Section 6 . <br /> Vacation time may be taken in consecutive anniversary <br /> years with the permission of the City Librarian. <br /> Section 7 . <br /> No vacation time accrues during leaves of absence. <br /> Section 8 . <br /> Employees will not be paid in lieu of vacation except <br /> at the time of retirement, resignation, or termination. <br /> Section 9 . <br /> Vacation benefits for regularly employed part-time <br /> employees shall be on a prorated basis as per Article XXIII, <br /> Section 8 . <br /> ARTICLE X <br /> HOLIDAYS <br /> The following holidays will be observed by the Library <br /> and regularly employed staff members will be given the day <br /> off with pay or another day off with pay in lieu of the <br /> holiday in accordance with the following provisions : <br /> A. The following days are authorized as staff <br /> holidays : New Year' s Day, Martin Luther King' s <br /> Birthday, Lincoln' s Birthday, Good Friday, <br /> Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, <br /> Veterans Day, Thanksgiving Day, Presidential <br /> Election Day and Christmas Day. <br />
