- 22 - <br /> TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENT <br /> A. The Employer may temporarily assign an employee to <br /> perform the duties of another job title. An employee who is <br /> temporarily assigned to a position with a higher pay grade <br /> than that of his/her permanent position shall be paid as if <br /> he/she had received a promotion with that higher pay grade. <br /> B. If the duties of a job title must be temporarily <br /> assigned to another employee due to absence or vacation, the <br /> most senior person in the department will have the option of <br /> performing those duties . If the job title is a pay grade <br /> higher than that of the employee performing the duties, the <br /> employee will be paid at the higher pay grade for the entire <br /> time the employee performed said duties . The employee <br /> involved shall be responsible for preparing and submitting the <br /> time slip showing the time spent performing the duties of the <br /> higher pay grade. <br /> ARTICLE XIII <br /> DEMOTIONS <br /> Demotion is assignment of an employee to a vacant <br /> position in a pay grade lower than the employee' s current <br /> position' s pay grade. An employee shall only be demoted for <br /> cause . The Employer shall give the employee notice of his/her <br /> demotion with reason (s) showing cause for the demotion. A <br /> demotion can be appealed directly to the third step of the <br /> Grievance Procedure. <br /> This section is inapplicable to Reductions in Force. <br /> ARTICLE XIV <br /> RECORDS AND FORMS <br /> Section 1 . Attendance Records <br /> The Employer shall maintain accurate daily attendance <br /> records. The employee shall, at a mutually agreeable time, <br /> have the right to view his/her time pay records on file with <br /> the Employer. <br /> Section 2 . Records <br />
