- - 25 - <br /> Section 2 . Trial Period <br /> Any employee selected for a job vacancy shall have a <br /> trial period of six (6) months . He/she may return to his/her <br /> old job within that trial period. <br /> Section 3 . Promotions <br /> When an employee is promoted, he/she shall be paid at <br /> the rate for that position in accordance with the pay scale <br /> in which he/she was originally employed. The promoted <br /> employee will receive the pay rate at the entry level of the <br /> new pay scale or an increase of 50, whichever is greater. <br /> Section 4 . Filling of Vacancies <br /> Permanent vacancies shall be filled in the following <br /> order of priority: <br /> 1 . Recall from lay-off in accordance with Article <br /> XXII Section 4; <br /> 2 . Recall from Layoff to a position for which the <br /> employee is qualified; <br /> 3 . Reinstatement from leave of absence. <br /> 4 . In all other cases vacancies in Library positions <br /> shall be filled by current Library employees if <br /> qualified. A vacant position shall be posted <br /> internally for a period of five (5) days. The <br /> position shall be publicly posted at the same <br /> time for five (5) days . All applicants shall take <br /> the examination to fill the vacancy at the same <br /> time. An employee may annually submit a written <br /> request between April 1 and April 30 of each year <br /> to the Assistant City Librarian in regard to any <br /> position for which they wish to apply and are <br /> qualified. <br />
