Asphalt Street Improvement
The first resolution appropriates $1,400,000 in MFT funds for asphalt street work which will be
the proposed 2012 Street Restoration project, City Project 2012-08. The Street Restoration
project is part of the annual maintenance program that generally consists of milling off a portion
of an existing asphalt street surface and placing a new asphalt concrete surface course that
restores the integrity of the street surface. This year's project will include reconstructing portions
of Tanager Drive and Kenwood Avenue as shown on the attached maps. As with paving projects
completed in the past few years, this year's project includes a significant amount of patching to
repair failed street sections that are becoming more prevalent throughout the City as capital
improvements devoted to pavement maintenance are reduced. The proposed street list is as
follows:
Street Begin End Surface Treatment Length (feet)
Martin Luther King, Jr. Wood Street Lake Shore Drive Mill and Overlay 4,534
Drive
Jasper Street Jasper Subway Condit Street Mill and Overlay 1,508
Meadowlark Reconstruction with
Tanager Drive IL Route 48 Drive Cement Stabilized 600
Base
Reconstruction with
Kenwood Avenue Water Street Main Street Cement Stabilized 400
Base
Total Length 7,042
Concrete Street Improvement
The second resolution appropriates $350,000 in MFT funds for concrete street reconstruction
work which will be the second phase of the proposed L &A Industrial Park Drive Concrete
Pavement Reconstruction project, City Project 2012-11. This project will replace the north
(westbound) half of the failed concrete pavement providing access to this industrial park.
