Marley, P.E., Public Works Director <br /> SUBJECT: Downtown Streetscape & Open Area Enhancement Program <br /> Main Street Streetscape Enhancement Project Change Order#1 <br /> City Project 2010-17 <br /> SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: <br /> It is recommended that the City Council approve the attached resolution authorizing Change Order No. <br /> 1 to the Main Street Streetscape Enhancement Project, City Project 2010-17, with Feutz Contractors, <br /> Inc. Said Change Order will provide additional funding in the amount of$226,023.74, to the <br /> $4,087,534.04 contract, for a total project cost of$4,313,557.78. The change order is 5.5%of the <br /> original contract price. <br /> PRIOR COUNCIL ACTION: <br /> Appendix A provides a summary of the prior Council action. <br /> BACKGROUND: <br /> Downtown Streetscape and Open Space Enhancement <br /> On July 5, 2011, the City Council authorized a contract with Otto Baum Company to begin the first <br /> phase of the North Water Streetscape Enhancement project which included the 300 and 400 blocks of <br /> North Water Street, along with the 200 block of East North Street. This work is substantially <br /> complete. <br /> On October 17, 2011,the City Council authorized a contract with Kinney Contractors, Inc. to complete <br /> the second phase of the Water Street Streetscape Project from William Street to Wood Street. This <br /> project is currently underway with work progressing to the 200 block of North Water Street and on <br /> Main Street and William Street. The project is to be completed prior to the Decatur Celebration. <br /> On February 21, 2012, the City Council authorized a contract with Feutz Contractors to complete the <br /> Main Street portion of the downtown streetscape program. This project is currently underway with the <br /> 100 block of East Prairie and Merchant Street nearly completed and with work progressing to Main <br /> Street. Merchant and Prairie are to be completed prior to the Decatur Celebration and the remaining <br /> project to be fully completed by spring 2013. <br /> Change Order <br /> The Sams Hockaday building located on the northwest corner of Prairie and Main(see drawing) has <br /> large sub-sidewalk vaults on Main Street and on Prairie Street. Sub-sidewalk vaults are basement <br /> areas that extend into the City's right of way under the sidewalk. <br /> Page I 1 <br />
