RESOLUTION NO. R2012-11 RESOLUTION APPROVING AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF DECATUR AND THE COUNTY OF MACON COVERING PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION WHEREAS, the City of Decatur and the County of Macon understand the necessity for governmental cooperation to promote access to and availability of public transportation; and WHEREAS, the City has the Federal authority to provide public transportation to the Decatur urbanized area as defined by the most recent United States Census; and WHEREAS, the County has the Federal authority to provide public transportation to the remaining rural area in Macon County outside of the Decatur urbanized area as defined by the most recent Census; and WHEREAS, the City's Decatur Public Transit System does not provide public transportation in all of the areas within the Decatur urbanized area, resulting in several unserved "Gray Areas"; and WHEREAS, the County cannot serve these "Gray Areas" with their Rural Transit System without the cooperation and assistance of the City; and WHEREAS, the County and the City desire to make provisions for public transportation services in the "Gray Areas" and for the allocation of funds between the City and the County to finance those services. BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DECATUR, ILLINOIS: Section 1. That the City of Decatur enter into an intergovernmental agreement with the County of Macon to cooperate with and to assist the County in providing public transportation in urbanized areas of the County that are outside of the service area of the Decatur Public Transit System, PRESENTED AND ADOPTED this 6th day of Feb y, 2012. v MICHAMcELRO MAYOR ATT T: —, V - CELESTE F.
