PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING SERVICES AGREEMENT: <br /> The attached agreement covers the preparation of an Asian Carp Protection Plan for Lake Decatur, <br /> and includes the following tasks: <br /> 1. Contact various State and Federal agencies to review current research in providing fish <br /> barriers to the migration of Asian Carp. <br /> 2. Identify the opportunities for Asian Carp to penetrate the Lake Decatur dam. <br /> 3. Determine options for the creation of a fish barrier on or around the Lake Decatur dam to <br /> keep Asian Carp from passing through into the Lake. <br /> 4. Prepare a report with recommended options. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There are no known objections to this resolution. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: Illinois Department of Natural Resources, U.S. Geological <br /> Survey. <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: Richard G. Marley, Public Works Director, Keith Alexander, Director of <br /> Water Management, and Matt Newell, City Engineer. Richard Marley and Keith Alexander will <br /> be in attendance at the City Council meeting to answer any questions of the Council on this item. <br /> BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: <br /> Budget Impact: Funding for this work will come from the Water Capital Fund. The fee for the <br /> Professional Services is not to exceed $63,700. <br /> Staffing Impact: Staff time has been allocated for managing the Asian Carp Protection Plan <br /> proj ect. <br /> Attach: 2 <br /> cc: Jeff Tatarek & William Rice, Hanson Professional Services Inc. <br /> Kevin Irons &Mike Mounce, Illinois Department of Natural Resources <br /> Matt Newell &Randy Miller, City of Decatur <br /> Page 12 <br />
