Robinson,Assistant Corporation Counsel <br /> SUBJECT: Chapter 60—Vehicles For Hire <br /> SUMMARY RECCOMENDATION: New Chapter 60 replacing former City Code Chapters 60 <br /> and 61 omitted license suspension/revocation provisions for Vehicle for Hire licensees. The <br /> proposed amendments include the omitted provisions, clarify appeal provisions, clarify <br /> occasional driver for hire license and vehicle requirements, and correct minor errors. Staff <br /> recommends approval of the amendments. <br /> BACKGROUND: New City Code Chapter 60 streamlines the City's regulation of businesses <br /> and persons engaged in the business of carrying persons for hire, including taxis and livery <br /> vehicles. As enacted, new Chapter 60 omitted provisions authorizing suspension or revocation <br /> of vehicle for hire licenses, which had previously been included in City Code Chapters 60 and <br /> 61. The proposed amendments add license suspension/revocation provisions, clarify the right to <br /> appeal license suspension or revocation decisions, clarify occasional driver for hire license and <br /> vehicle requirements, and correct errors in the new Chapter. <br /> POTENTIAL OBJECTIONS: There are no known or expected objections. <br /> INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: None <br /> STAFF REFERENCE: John T.
