Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of July 5,2012:
Ms. Malden lives directly across from the ADM Wellness Center. She stated ADM cut down all
vegetation that existed in that area except for a few trees. She said the railroad is basically in her
front yard and she hears them early in the morning. She has tried to contact ADM and speak with
them about the future development and she just keeps getting transferred to someone else. She does
not want more ADM in her front yard. She just wants to know what future development is going to
take place.
Mr. Mullendore wants to know what keeps them from building right up to his property line. Ms.
Suzy Stickle stated there is a 25 foot building setback from their property lines. They will also be
required to put in a buffer yard which requires ten (10)percent of the length or width of the property
and it has to be at least ten (10) feet wide but no greater than 50 feet as required by the Zoning
Ordinance and at least fifty percent of the required plantings have to be of an evergreen variety.
It was moved and seconded (Newton/Livingston) to forward Cal. No. 12-21 to the City Council
with recommendation for approval as presented by staff. Motion carried 7-0-1 with Mr. Jim Grady
abstaining from the vote.
