n requests that the PD be amended to allow for four 4 new monuments le
The subject petitio q O h'
freestanding signs with stone covering the structures on campus.
There are currently four (4
)
freestanding signs on the campus. This amendment would only actually increase the total
number to six (6) because two (2) signs are going to be replaced with the new signage. There
will be a sign at each of the three (3) entrances to the hospital campus. These signs will be 11
feet in height with cabinet/sign area not to exceed 64 square feet. The signs are essentially large
wayfinding signs which will help patients and visitors navigate the campus with ease. Two (2)
of these signs will be setback five (5) feet from the property lines along South 16t" Street and
located south of their respective entrances. The third wayfinding sign will be setback 25 feet
from the property line along East Lake Shore Drive and located south of the entrance. The
fourth freestanding sign will be setback 10 feet from the south property line and 40 feet from the
west property line at the corner of South 16th Street and East Lake Shore Drive. These setbacks
from the property lines will allow the sign to be setback from the residential districts/uses 100
feet. This sign will be 20 feet in height and a cabinet of 110 square feet with 100 square feet in
sign area, this includes a 32 square foot electronic message unit.
The proposed amendment to the PD is consistent with the character of the surrounding
neighborhood and general area.
The PD amendment is consistent with the intent of the original PD and the Comprehensive Plan.
POTENTIAL OBJECTION: There were no known objectors at the Plan Commission
Meeting.
INPUT FROM OTHER SOURCES: The PD amendment has been reviewed by the City's
Technical Review Committee; Planning, Engineering and Fire have approved the amendment.
STAFF REFERENCE: Any additional questions may be forwarded to Suzan M. Stickle at 424-
2786 or at smstickle@decaturil.gov.
BUDGET/TIME IMPLICATIONS: None.
