Three (3) of the
directional signs shall not exceed four(4) feet in height and 12 square feet in area; c.) Two (2) of
the directional signs shall not exceed three (3) feet in height and seven(7) square feet in area; d.)
Any wall signs shall not exceed ten percent (10%) of the face of the wall where displayed; e.)
Sign Permits will be required before any signage is installed; f.) Final site, landscaping and lighting plans shall be
submitted to and approved by the Department of Planning and Building Services, Public Works
Department and the Fire Department prior to building permits being released. The proposed
amendment to the PD is consistent with the intent of the originally approved PD. The City Plan
Commission voted 6-0 to recommend approval of this petition at the September 1, 2011 meeting;
the minutes of the meeting are attached.
BACKGROUND: On December 3, 2009 the City Plan Commission voted 9-0 to approve the
rezoning from R-6 and 0-1 District to PD Planned Development District. The petition was
approved by City Council by a 7-0 vote on December 21, 2009.
The petitioner proposed to construct a lighted sign with an electronic message unit. The
maximum height of the sign was to be 17 feet. The maximum area of the sign was to be 90
square feet with 30 square feet allowed for the Electronic Message Unit. The petitioner was
required to provide ten (10) evergreen shrubs around the base of the sign. To date the sign has
been erected.
The church also planned to relocate the economy shop to the southwest corner of West King and
North Main Streets from its current location on North Water Street.
Other future plans the church had was a parking lot expansion to occur along the north side of
the campus.
