Excerpts from Plan Commission Minutes of January 6,2011 continued: <br /> "Maximum Area per Sign: 50 square feet, properties containing five (5) acres or more may have <br /> a maximum area of 75 square feet." <br /> Amend SECTION XXV.E.2.c (Signage-Signs in Office District)to now read as follows: <br /> "Maximum height: Ten(10) feet, properties containing five (5) acres or more may have a <br /> maximum height of 15 feet." <br /> Amend SECTION XXV.F.2.a(Signage-Signs in Business and Industrial Districts)by replacing: <br /> "Lot"with"Frontage". <br /> Amend SECTION XXV.F.2.b (Signage-Signs in Business and Industrial Districts) to now read <br /> as follows: <br /> "Maximum Area per Sign: 75 square feet." <br /> Amend SECTION XXV.F.3.a (Signage-Signs in Business and Industrial Districts) to now read <br /> as follows: <br /> "Number per Frontage: One (1); however,properties that have 500 feet of linear frontage or <br /> more are permitted two (2) freestanding signs and properties with 800 feet of linear frontage or <br /> more are permitted three (3) freestanding signs." <br /> Amend SECTION XXV.F.3.b (Signage-Signs in Business and Industrial Districts) to now read <br /> as follows: <br /> "Maximum Area per Sign: <br /> i. Sign Advertising One or Two Businesses: 75 square feet or one (1) square foot per <br /> each linear foot of frontage,to a maximum of 100 square feet. <br /> ii. Multi-Tenant Sign Advertising Three or More Businesses: 75 square feet or one (1) <br /> square foot per each linear foot of frontage,to a maximum of 200 square feet." <br /> Staff recommends approval of the amendments as proposed. <br /> Section XXIX.G. of the Zoning Ordinance requires the Plan Commission to hold a public <br /> hearing and make recommendations to the City Council on amendments to the Zoning <br /> Ordinance. A motion to forward Calendar Number 10-38 to City Council with a <br /> recommendation of approval is suggested. <br /> Mr. Mickler asked for an explanation of the Zoning Board of Appeals Powers and Duties <br /> concerning the Electronic Message Unit Signs. <br /> Ms. Stickle said the Zoning Board of Appeals would be allowed to grant a variance to the <br /> petitioner. Presently, the electronic message unit signs have to be setback 100 feet from the <br /> property line of any residential district or use. If a petitioner requested a variance to reduce the <br /> setback, the surrounding properties would have an opportunity to be heard at the public hearing. <br /> If the variance is granted, the electronic message unit would only be allowed to operate between <br /> the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. <br /> There were no objectors present. <br /> It was moved and seconded (Livingston/Sadorus) to forward Cal. No. 10-38 to the City Council <br /> with recommendation for approval as presented by staff. Motion carried unanimously. <br />
