The Benzene concentration models a distance of 1,264.5 feet before <br /> reducing to a level that will meet the applicable Illinois Environmental Protection Agency's water quality <br /> standards. An ordinance prohibiting the potable use of the groundwater within the modeled extent of <br /> contamination is necessary to eliminate the potential for human exposure. The City of Decatur has <br /> adopted this type of ordinance in the past for numerous projects of this nature. <br /> Sixty-six properties as well as city owned right-of-ways and parking areas will be affected by the <br /> proposed ordinance. They are identified in both the "Notification List" and Attachment A enclosed with <br /> this letter. Figure l provides the modeled extent of groundwater contamination. Figure 2 depicts the <br /> proposed groundwater ordinance area.The ordinance must encompass the Nims property as well. <br /> Please process this request at your earliest possible convenience.
