Marley, P.E., Public Works Director SUBJECT: Ordinance Authorizing the Installation of All Way Stop at the Intersections of Water Street and Cerro Gordo Street and Witt Street and North Street SUMMARY RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends the approval of the attached Ordinance authorizing an all way stop at the following intersections: 1. Water Street and Cerro Gordo Street 2. Witt Street and North Street BACKGROUND: Prior Council Action There has been no previous Council action on these items. Water Street and Cerro Gordo Street At the August 11, 2009, meeting of the Traffic & Parking Commission, the Commission approved a request from City staff recommending an all way stop at the intersection of Water Street and Cerro Gordo Street. The all way stop was requested as a result of an accident review performed by City Engineering that determined this location to have a high number of accidents that are correctable with and all way stop. Witt Street and North Street At the August 11, 2009, meeting of the Traffic & Parking Commission, the Commission approved a request from a local business owner for an all way stop at the intersection of Witt Street and North Street. The business owner expressed his concern for the health and safety of his employees and of area residents who use the intersection to access the local park. The Commission also requested City staff to review other intersections in the area to determine if additional traffic control or traffic control changes are needed.
